Department
of Health planed to establish "Taiwan Joint Commission on Hospital
Accreditation" to provide services in order to enhance the managerial
skills and medical care in healthcare organizations.
In
August, 1998, the Executive Yuan granted the Department of Health the
funds for establishing "Taiwan Joint Commission on Hospital
Accreditation."
In January, 1999, the Department of Health, the Executive Yuan authorized the foundation of the Commission.
On March 8, 1999, the Commission was registered with Taiwan Taipei District Court.
On April 12, 1999, we held the Grand Opening Ceremony.

Joint Commission on Hospital Accreditation is the first organization
that is sponsored by both the government and non-governmental medical
groups. The founding organization include:

The
Management The
Commission is pleased to welcome Dr. Hang Chang as its new Chairman in March,
2011.
Dr. Chang was formally appointed into the position who will lead the
Commission to new era.
Dr.
Chang is the professor of Taipei Medical University and the president of several
medical societies. He is a prominent figure with extensive experience in public
sector and with a strong background in emergency medicine.
For
his many achievements, the best known is that Dr. Chang led the organizational
restructuring of integration from original tenmunicipal
hospitals into the Taipei City Hospital to achieve its financial sufficiency
when he served as the Commissioner of Bureaus of Health, Taipei City
Government.

In
August 2011, the Board formally appointed Dr. Wui-Chiang Lee as the CEO.
He officially succeeded Dr. Cathy Wung, who has led the Commission to success since
2006. The
Commission was fortunate to have Dr. Wui-Chiang Lee who with the range of skills
and experiences. Dr. Lee received his both PhD and MHS from Johns Hopkins
University. Before joining the Commission, he was Deputy Director, Department of
Medical Affairs and Planning, Taipei Veterans General Hospitals (TVGH). He has
actively participated in many committees for promoting quality care and patient
safety for years.
With
this appointment, the Commission now has a new leadership in place and will
continue to work on improving the healthcare quality through effective
collaboration with its stakeholders.
